Bench Joinery - Advanced Apprenticeship at Dearne Valley College (DVC)

Course description

This two year Advanced Apprenticeship programme gives you the opportunity to gain a nationally-recognised qualification as a Bench Joinery, whilst working within the industry.


You will be required to attend College one day a week, whilst the rest of the course is undertaken on the job in your workplace.


This Apprenticeship is made up of two components which include a technical qualification and a knowledge-based qualification. It will give you the skills needed to work within the construction industry whilst getting paid and carrying out practical work in the field. You will work in a construction environment where your duties will involve all aspects and brickwork.


This Apprenticeship will help you to develop further knowledge and skills to support your career progression within the carpentry and joinery industry.


You will study:
  • Assembly furniture components
  • Prototype design in furniture
  • Research and product development
  • Supervision in a furniture environment
  • Functional Skills in maths and English for those who have not achieved GCSE grade C or above
