Football academy in association with the Chelsea FC Foundation at The Hayesbrook School

Course description

Hayesbrook 6 Academy in association with the Chelsea FC Foundation

New for 2019!

Are you a talented sportsperson who wants to study level 3 qualifications but still have the dream of playing football at a high level. You could still study 3 qualifications and train for 12 hours a week with a qualified Chelsea coach.

Our academic courses run alongside the football academy, meaning that students have an even greater chance to maximise their outcomes at the end of the two-year experience. An experience that includes the opportunity to have 12 hours of training with a Chelsea FC Foundation qualified coach every week. There is a high set of expectations that are placed upon the Academy players, but students will recognise that throughout the two-year experience that they will become better players. Better players as they will play in the Chelsea Under 19 Cup competition, play regular matches against other academies, train regularly, understand strength and conditioning work and reflect on match performance all under the guidance of a Uefa B licence coach.

There are a limited number of places available at the Academy with entry via an initial commitment and open day training session. Following the outcome of the open day session students will then be invited for interview to confirm that the entry requirements to the Academy have been met.

Places will then be confirmed on results day in August 2019. Our advice to apply as early as possible and ensure that you attend the trial when your initial application has been received.

Facilities

We are very fortunate to enjoy excellent facilities in the Sixth form at Hayesbrook. The Hayesbrook 6 Academy has full access to a full size all weather 3G pitch that is overlooked by a Sports pavilion with changing spaces and showers. On site there is also access to a  Crossfit gym, studio and ICT space all dedicated to Sport.

How does the Academy work alongside level 3 qualifications?

The Hayesbrook Sixth form offers level 3 qualifications only. Like any Hayesbrook Sixth form student, academy players must meet the basic entry requirements of a level 4 in both English and Maths including at least 3 other passes at GCSE level. Students are then able to choose from a small, high quality provision of courses that link well to the outcomes of the football academy. Popular combinations of qualifications include A levels such as Maths, English Literature, Product Design, Geography and History or Applied or Technical courses such as Business, Sport, ICT and Digital Creative Media.

Where could it take me?

After two years students will have achieved the equivalent of three level 3 qualifications and will have gained the experience of training and playing to a very high standard weekly. Some of our academy graduates go to university whilst others have started high level apprenticeships or for some students, they have had the opportunity to take a scholarship at an American university to continue playing football and studying at a higher level. There is also the opportunity to be scouted whilst playing in academy competitions and pursue a career in sport.

Entry requirements

Students must have English and Maths at a 4+ and at least three other qualifications at 4+.
