Light Vehicle Maintenance Subsidiary Diploma Level 2 at Canterbury College

Course description

The Subsidiary Diploma is a more practically biased level 2 qualification offered by the Institute of the Motor Industry.

Course content

The course is designed for those who want to work in Independent Workshops or main dealerships as Technicians and those who want to be Master Technicians. It is also the pathway for those who want to achieve their level 3 Diploma qualification and go on to advanced apprenticeships.

This Qualification, with additional optional units, meets the technical requirements for the modern apprenticeship framework at level 2, so those who choose to go onto an apprenticeship, only need to complete practical aspects at work. This cuts down the amount of time required to complete an apprenticeship.

Lessons are a mix of practical and theory. You will learn all about vehicle systems and the removal, checking and refitting of components and service parts.

Entry requirements

4 Ds or 3s including English and maths or a relevant full level 1.

There are 7 online exams and 15 practical assessments (and an extra 2 optional units for progression to the L3 Diploma or an apprenticeship.)

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion, you may progress to the Level 3 diploma.
