Bricklaying Diploma Level 1 at Sheppey College

Course description

This course is perfect if you are looking to start in the bricklaying trade. You will learn how to build brick walls, mix and store materials and calculate the quantities of materials needed for building. The course is a mixture of hands-on projects and classroom-based learning.

Course content

Health & safety in construction, efficiency in the workplace, storing materials, mixing materials, building brick walls, calculating quantities of materials and functional skills.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade E-G (2 or 1) including - Functional Skills English and maths Entry 3 or GCSE Grade 1 or 2

Assessment

Criteria-based course with seven units, knowledge test after each unit and a final multiple choice test. Practical skills are assessed through the construction of ten walls plus three timed building tasks including one scenario based question.
