Diploma in Uniformed Public Services Level 2 at Sheppey College

Course description

This course will provide you with an insight into employment in a range of Uniformed Public Services. Close links exist with Kent Fire and Rescue, Coastguard, RNLI, Army, Royal Marines, Kent Police, HMP and London Fire Brigade. Trips to and visits from the services will provide you with valuable experiences to support your study programme. To prepare you for your future career you will receive opportunities to participate in teamwork, leadership tasks, fitness, map reading activities and work experience placements in relevant local organisations and services.

Course content

Whilst studying Uniformed Public Services Level 1/2 you will cover a range of topics that include; Working in a team, Employability Skills, Career Planning, Health & Fitness for Uniformed Services, Sports and Recreation, Making and Receiving Calls, Welcoming Visitors and Working with Colleagues. In addition, Navigation and Expedition skills.

Entry requirements

4 Ds or 3s including English and maths or a relevant full level 1.


By a portfolio of written assignments, practical role plays and observations, work experience and internal/external assessments. You will receive both verbal and written feedback from your tutors. Formal external exams will be taken for English and maths GCSE as necessary.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course you can progress on to further Level 2/3 courses including: Extended Certificate in Business & Retail Level 2, Extended Certificate in Business and E-Office Skills Level 2, Extended Certificate in Business & Travel Level 2, BTEC in Uniformed Public Service Level 2/3, Apprenticeships in Business & Administration, Retail or Customer Service.

This course is excellent preparation for employment into the services.
