Business (e-Office) Extended Certificate Level 2 at Sheppey College

Course description

A practical course offering a broad base of skills towards employment in a variety of admin, office and customer service environs. The course is supported by inspirational industry speakers and participation in aspirational events and visits linked to the units studied. Employability skills and work practices will be developed in business and admin procedures along with the effective use of Microsoft programs to support business activities in the modern office.

Course content

The level 2 Extended Certificate in Business will provide you with knowledge of business concepts and the ways in which you can apply them in a workplace environment. This qualification will then allow you to choose an industry route to focus on.

Within the Business, there are specialist option routes including Fashion Marketing, Tourism and Web Design for Marketing. You will discover how business organisations operate, understand how to apply marketing techniques in the fashion industry and learn how to design an effective business website. You will also learn how to work independently or in a group setting and develop research and evaluative skills to prepare for your progression route whether it be a level 3 course or employment.

Within the Business, Finance and E-Office route, you will explore units such as budgeting and money management, alongside various administration based units to prepare you for your career.

You will have the opportunity to visit various organisations to enhance your learning and to put your new skills in to practice. Visits can include Bluewater, Chessington World of Adventure, London Fashion Week, Stansted Airport, Bank of England, Criminal Law Courts, Thorpe Park and Cruise visits.

You will also have educational workshops in topics that directly relate to your course that will be provided to you by industry specialists.

Entry requirements

4 Ds or 3s including English and Maths or a relevant full Level 1.

Assessment

A portfolio of internally and externally assessed written assignments, practical activities/events, observations and presentations. Your feedback will be both verbal and written, ensuring that you have the necessary guidance to complete the study programme.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of the course may allow progression to the Business, Digital Marketing and Event Management Level 3, Advanced Apprenticeships in Business & Administration or a career in the business industry.
