Cambridge Technical Level 3 Introductory Diploma in IT at Northfleet School for Girls

Course description

2-year Level 3 Introductory Diploma

(Equivalent to 1 A Level)

The course is designed to be a mixture of ICT and Computing skills, to be accessible to students with backgrounds in either subject. They will have the opportunity to work on industry-relevant projects to

experience a true flavour of the IT world. This course is suitable for students who are interested in pursuing ICT at university or entering the IT industry after school, as well as students interested in emerging technologies

and the use of ICT in real life business environments. 

This course is suited to students who are interested in Computers and use them to produce digital products or services.

The skills learnt on the course are transferrable to many roles in businesses where computers are used on a daily basis.

Entry requirements

At least a grade 4 in English and Maths.
Previous experience of ICT at KS4 is recommended, but not required. 

 

Assessment

Students will follow the Emerging Digital Technology Practitioner Pathway, studying:

 

- *Fundamentals of ICT (exam)

- *Global Information (exam)

- Virtual and Augmented Reality (coursework)

- Social Media and Digital Marketing (coursework) 

- Developing a Smarter Planet (coursework)

 

* Mandatory units completed for 1-year Certificate.

Future opportunities

Degree in a technology related field (website designer, network technician, IT system analyst) or apprenticeship in industry or careers which rely on the use of technology.
