Graphic Design Level 3 at Rotherham College

Course description

  • This course is equivalent to three A Levels and will gives students the necessary UCAS points to apply for University
  • During this two year course you will focus on imaginative thinking and through an informal hands-on approach to graphic design
  • You will be working in our professional studio environment, where you will learn a variety of approaches to visual communication. Your creativity will be nurtured and you will be encouraged to take an individual approach with your work
  • You will have the opportunity to connect with industry, through visiting designers/ practitioners, and work experience through ‘live’ briefs
  • The studio-based culture will enable you to develop your individual design skills through a series of design projects; encouraging the development of ideas, experimentation with visual language and acquisition of technical skills
  • Our students have successfully gained awards at a regional and national level

  • The first year provides you with an opportunity to experiment and learn new skills that will inform and develop your practice and technical competence
  • The second year will encourage the development of your creative awareness looking at specialist disciplines
  • You will study a range of subjects within graphic design including: advertising, branding and logo design, online design, magazine layout and typography, information graphics, packaging, illustration and digital photography
  • The principles of design, design methods, communication and fundamental theories that will help you contextualise your work
