On completion of this qualification you could be on your way to a career as a health care assistant, community support assistant, residential care assistant or day care assistant.
This will help you to develop the skills needed to be an effective employee when pursuing a career within the care sector.
The programme covers a wide range of job roles within two pathways and what you study will depend on your chosen pathway.
Adult social care pathway:
- You will learn how to work within an environment where you will help people with a particular need, people with disabilities, the elderly or people with learning difficulties, and develop practical care skills
- You will gain an understanding of the responsibilities of a personal care assistant
Health care pathway:
- You will gain experience by working as a healthcare assistant or support worker within hospitals, the community, hospices or private clinics, where you will learn your duties and responsibilities, supporting doctors or nurses or helping patients in hospital wards
