Course description

This course will give you the knowledge and skills required to go on to higher education and pursue a career in this field.

Course content

Year one:

  • coursework portfolio: fundamental aspects of photography, producing a portfolio of work from a given brief
  • controlled assignment: you will select a starting point from an early release question paper and will plan and prepare ideas - you will then undertake a five hour controlled period to realise your intentions/outcomes

Year two:

  • personal investigation: you will submit one personal project that has personal significance – this investigation includes a 1,500-2,000 word personal study
  • controlled assignment: you will select one starting point from an early release question paper and will plan and prepare ideas – you will then undertake a 15 hour controlled period to realise your intentions/outcomes

Entry requirements

  • maths and English language at grade four/grade C or above
  • three additional GCSEs at grade four/grade C or above
  • you will also be required to submit a photography portfolio

Assessment

  • coursework portfolio: 60%
  • practical examination: 40%

Financial information

FREE to UK/EU under 19s not in employment

Future opportunities

  • you can go on to study a degree at university or college such as our BA (Hons) Photography programme
  • alternatively, you can seek employment in a relevant field
