Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry at Sheppey College

Course description

This course is perfect for those looking to start in the site carpenter or bench joiner trades. You will learn how to handle and store materials, use specialist tools, and basic wood joining techniques.

Course content

Handling and storing resources, contributing to work relationships, contributing to providing working platforms, preparing and using portable power tools, preparing and using woodworking hand tools, using basic wood joining techniques and functional skills.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade E-G (2 or 1) including - Functional Skills English and maths Entry 3 or GCSE Grade 1 or 2

Assessment

Criteria-based course with six units, knowledge test after each unit and a final multiple choice test. Practical skills are assessed through 11 projects plus one 18 hour timed task.
