Course description

This is a practical course that leads into a wide range of skills to support your development and progress into the world of work; this course is designed for students interested in IT, digital media production, gaming and looking at developing skills to a higher level.

Course content

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT includes 3 mandatory units and a wide range of additional units, including Digital Graphics, Animation, Computer Gaming and IT Support.

Entry requirements

4 Cs or 4s including English and maths.


Clear assessment: There are no tests or formal examinations except in English and Maths. The units are highly practical with the emphasis on rather than writing about Students will need to develop skills in a wide range of industry standard software to enable progression on to employment or Higher Education. Employability skills are incorporated into the qualification with up-to-date and current information about possible career paths.

Future opportunities

The qualifications provide career opportunities as well as the option to progress onto higher education. This can be at degree level or professional development programmes within the same or related areas of study, within universities and other institutions. Students who successfully gain this qualification can progress into employment, higher level apprenticeships or onto Higher Education.
