Ext. Diploma in Print, Social Media and Journalism Year 1 at Canterbury College
This course is aimed at those wishing to develop a career in Print or Broadcast Journalism. You will cover media theory and research techniques regarding journalism, social media and search engine optimisation (SEO), and engage in practical work focusing on professional writing standards, page layout and design, audio and camera work. This qualification will form the main part of your Canterbury College study programme. Our study programmes combine your main qualification and work experience.
You will learn about journalism, social media theory and research techniques; how to use research to write news stories, features and conduct interviews for print, radio, TV, multimedia and online outlets; page layout and design; photography; video and audio recording and editing skills.
4 Cs or 4s including English and maths.
You will be continually assessed with practical and written assessments, group projects and production work. All units you study are graded, a final major project will determine your final grade for the qualification.
This is an excellent route into a Media, Journalism, PR, Politics, Sociology, Law, Public Policy, Film, Photography, TV/Radio Production or English degree in Higher Education (University-level). It also provides a route into employment and internships in the creative media industries.
