IB IT in a Global Society at The Leigh UTC

Course description

Students study 2 IB diplomas alongside their specialism of either Engineering or Computer Science.  They additionally study a Reflective Project and the IB Core.

Whilst studying IT in a Global Society

Students develop:

  • how to evaluate social and ethical considerations arising from the widespread use of IT by individuals, families, communities, organisations and societies at the local and global level

  • a deep appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of computing methods

  • competence and confidence in a variety of practical and problem-solving skills

  • their interest in and enthusiasm for the subject, including developing an interest in further study and careers associated with the subject

  • develop your understanding of the capabilities of current and emerging IT systems and to evaluate their impact on a range of stakeholders

Entry requirements

Professional Pathway 5 GCSE's grades 9-5 including English and Maths


2 externally assessed exams and an internally assessed written report
