Our specialism in Performing Arts really comes into it's own should you choose to study it after GCSEs. Everything we offer - strong curriculum, top-class facilities and opportunities to learn with the industry's best - is aimed at making you feel like a real performer during your studies. This 'just like a professional' approach means we can deliver the highest possible standards of teaching - so whether you're planning to make the stage your career or you're a passionate amateur, you'll get the results you need to move on to the next level.
Stepping up to Sixth Form work is meant to be a challenge, but we don't want you to feel as if you're alone and struggling under a tide of unfamiliar issues. That's why we've developed a strong programme of support to ensure you're able to concentrate on doing your very best.
You'll help your tutors set achievable targets so you feel you're working to your own pace, and with termly reviews of your progress, you'll always be aware of whether you're doing as well as you should be. People at home will also be told about your progress, so that everyone can work together to ensure you stay motivated and on track for success. Alongside your qualifications, our weekly pastoral programme will give you information on important life topics, from applying to university to health advice and careers guidance.
"Year 13 students speak enthusiastically of the support they receive and the working atmosphere that exists in the Sixth Form." Ofsted
The Sixth Form team is proud of the welcoming and caring community that we have. Students from a range of backgrounds are encouraged to attend and enjoy their time here. The overriding principle on which the Sixth Form is based is that everyone is unique and to be valued. This is reflected in the pastoral system that we now offer and the warm and supportive relationships that students have with their teachers. This atmosphere helps our students to grow both academically and personally; something which we are passionate about achieving.
85% of students have said that the intervention they have received has generally helped them to progress.
"Since I was a student from a different school I thought it might have been hard to settle in but I have found both the staff and pupils friendly and sociable and have therefore settled in well" Jake

We want to make sure our students have a good foundation for their further studies, so it's vital you have five 'good' GCSEs (at C grade or above), preferably in different subjects. We're also keen that all our students have strong core skills in English and Maths, so your 'good' GCSEs should include these subjects. If you don't pass these GCSEs initially, don't be put off - we'll help you retake them and improve your grade alongside your Sixth Form studies.
Before you come into the Sixth Form, we'll ask you to a meeting to find out more about you and the courses you want to take. This helps us get an idea of what courses students are keen to do and base our courses offerings on these requests, rather than give you a fixed 'menu' to choose from. You can also change your course choices if you need to once you know your GCSE results.
