Welcome to Royds School

Royds is an 11 - 18 mixed school community of approximately 978, most of whom live in Rothwell, Oulton, Woodlesford but with many coming from further afield.  Students have a variety of backgrounds but one aspiration, to maximise their potential and achieve their personal goals.  Royds Schol has experienced huge change and great improvements over the past few years and we are proud of the school we have created.

Our one aim is to create a successful and happy community. I hope that this prospectus will prove informative and that it will encourage you to find out more about the opportunities for studying at Royds School.   New students are always made welcome.  Please do not hesitate to contact Mr A Sharma (Assistant Headteacher - Post-16) if you wish to visit or discuss your application.

About us

We recognise the distinct contribution which schools such as ours can make to the education of Post-16 students.  We cater for all potential students, whatever their interests or needs, and provide an excellent level of staffing and physical resources.  We do not have a uniform for Post-16 students but expect them to dress appropriately.

Facilities available

We have invested much to improve facilities and resources in order to provide students with the widest choice and an education suited to the 21st century.

Additional support

Royds has many strengths. We are a supportive community in which our highly qualified teaching staff are not only committed to the achievement of all but are also able to work with students in a supportive and collaborative manner, providing individuals with personal support and guidance.

With an atmosphere which is friendly, staff and students work together in mutual respect.  We are a school where traditional values are still regarded as important and we expect high standards in students' commitment to study and personal behaviour.

Learner success

The school's public examination results at all key stages are good or improving.  At Advanced Level, students who work hard perform particularly well, exceeding expectations and achieving their goals, whether university, training or employment.
