Welcome to Temple Moor High School

TempleMoor is a fully comprehensive and co-educational local authority 11-19 high school. It was originally opened in 1956 as a selective boy’s grammar school and built up an excellent academic and sporting reputation. In 1992, as part of the Leeds reorganisation of schools, a new 11-19 mixed comprehensive school was established with c850 students on roll. The school has continued to expand and develop since then and currently has 1336 students on roll. The school is heavily over-subscribed and it is likely that this will continue in the future. We are fortunate to be based in brand new, 21st century buildings that inspire and motivate student learning.

Facilities available

Our state of the art facilities will enable you to work in a stimulating environment suited to learners in the 21st Century. ICT provision within the school is excellent with dedicated work areas for 6th Form only. We combine this with providing a common room area in which students can relax or catch up with any work. Temple Moor also boasts a brand new library, sports facilities and catering facilities which students will have the opportunity to use regularly.

Additional support

The Heads of Post 16 Education, together with their team of tutors, build a relationship with students that enable them to celebrate successes and highlight problems before they impact too seriously on progress. They will ensure that all students are carefully monitored as they progress on their courses and regular Reviews are held at which a student’s progress is evaluated and targets are set.Where intervention is needed, strategies are agreed with both students and parents to make sure no one is left behind. This personal support and that of careers staff is critical, particularly when students come to apply for university or for jobs. They are helped with their applications and the Post 16 team will write references for each student to ensure that they have the best possible chance of progressing and fulfilling their ambitions.

The Post 16 Team at Temple Moor is made up of a team of form tutors who are all UCAS specialists including a Russell Group specialist and an Apprenticeship specialist. Whether you aspire to enter one of the top research Universities in the country (Russell Group), a Higher Level Apprenticeship or indeed, any other of the 100 plus Universities in the UK, you will be supported to reach your academic potential.

Learner success

We recognise that teaching and learning is the most important thing that happens at Temple Moor and we are rightly proud of our staff. In the most recent OFSTED report (March 2013), inspectors agreed that teaching was good, this resulted in Temple Moor 6th Form being classed as ‘Good’ overall’. Results have remained consistantly above the national average point score, as have the number of students choosing to take up their Post 16 education at Temple Moor.
