Welcome to Halton Community Academy

Halton YMCA is a committed training provider for the 14 to 19 age groups. We run a number of programmes tailor made for these age groups. Between 100 -200 young people access our learning, skills and enterprise centre per annum.

Halton YMCA is an integrated approach to meeting the needs of young people during their transition from dependance to independance, by initiating affordable accommodation, training and employment.

We aim to provide young people with a period of stability and allow them to make friends, local links and develop their own support networks.

Halton YMCA's fundamental aim is to help young people achieve their potential by providing a number of services, which help them to integrate the various aspects of their lives.

About us

We are a charity non- profit making organisation, which means any profit that is made is ploughed back in to resources and delivery of training. We are also playing a big part in regeneration of Widnes, by renovating an old building to make training, advice and guidance more accessible for local people. We are situated about a 10 minute walk from Widnes town centre, as we are close to the Runcorn and Widnes bridge, it makes our centre easily accessible by bus or car from Runcorn as well as Widnes.

Facilities available

As we are working on regeneration, our centre is developing and improving all the time. We have a fully equip joinery work shop and site maintenance area to learn skills like Plastering, Brick laying, Tiling, Decorating and many more. Our most recent improvement is our IT suite with 8 new up-dated computers, with video editing and photographic facilities, not to mention full internet access.
