As well as being the Nation’s Number One Further Education College on all three measures of vocational education in the 2015 Department for Education League Tables, the College celebrated100% pass rates and 77% triple distinction and distinction* grades in the summer of 2015.

At Riverside College we provide a comprehensive programme of support and development for every student to ensure individual needs are met and opportunities for success and progression are maximized. 

Riverside College’s Kingsway Campus is home to a wide range of full and part time vocational courses and apprenticeships, from foundation to degree level study. Riverside is also a sister college of Cronton Sixth Form College where students can choose to study from a range of full time A level and vocational programmes.

Facilities available

Your time at Riverside College Halton won’t just be spent sitting in a classroom. As a Riverside College student you will be able to take advantage of our excellent facilities, services and social activities.

Our Kingsway, Runcorn and Cronton campuses have excellent catering facilities where you can enjoy a hot or cold home-cooked meal, served in a relaxed environment.  The Kingsway Campus has a Cyber Café were you can relax, refuel and browse the internet.

The Runcorn and Kingsway Campuses have large modern salons where you can receive all the latest hairdressing, beauty and holistic therapy treatments at a fraction of the high street price.

Remember to call in and visit you local florist at The Kingsway Campus.  Bussing Florists specialises in weddings and offers a wide range of floral displays and balloons for sale produced to a very high standard.

The newly refurbished college gym is located at the Runcorn Campus and offers student membership rates.  At the gym you can get fit, loose a few pounds or train for a specific event with the help of our on site personal trainers.  And at the end of a gruelling work out, there is a sauna to ease your aching muscles.

At Riverside College Halton you will find state of the art Learning Centres in each of our three campuses, to ensure that wherever you choose to study you will have access to a wide range or resources to help you with you course.

Within the college there are over 650 computers available with access to the internet, college intranet, and a range of up to date software.  Within each of the Learning Centres, the library facilities offer a wide collection of course specific books, videos, newspapers and journals available for loan.

Learning Resources staff are also on hand to the Learning Centres to help students with assignments, projects and research during their studies.

Course specific facilities

  • 23 dedicated IT classrooms

Additional support

At Riverside College Halton we have a dedicated staff of Student Services staff at each campus who you can call upon at any time. You will also be allocated a Personal Tutor during induction who will agree an Individual Learning Plan with you and support you on a one to one basis throughout your course. Student Services

Your first point of call at Riverside College Halton will be Student Services, they will guide you through the application process and be there to help from the first day of term till you pick up yours exam results and beyond.  Each campus has a Student Services team who can support you with:

  • Impartial careers/courses advice and guidance
  • Information about the college services and facilities
  • Applying/enrolling for a course
  • Financial advice
  • Explaining student rights and entitlements
  • Looking for somewhere to live

Johanne Davis from Runcorn achieved 2 A’s and 2 B’s and has gone on to study medicine in Manchester.David Scott, from Widnes was extremely happy when his grades meant that he could aim higher than he had when applying for university and try for a more prestigious Performing Arts place through the clearing process.

Good Friends

Neil Houghton and Helen Johnson both celebrated 3 A’s in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.  Neil and Helen have shared their education since the age of 4 when they went to Primary School and then onto Wade Deacon High School, Riverside College Halton and now Manchester University to study medicine
