Having difficulty getting past the interview stage because you don't have any work experience or the right qualifications?  Finding it hard to get on the first step of the work ladder?

The world is changing fast.  With fierce competition for jobs there’s never been a better time to have marketable skills.  But you don’t need to sit in a classroom all day to get them.  With an Apprenticeship you can earn while you learn and gain recognised qualifications as you work.

What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship combines work-based training with learning.  They are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and workplace experience.  Apprenticeships are available for young people aged between 16 and 24, subject to eligibility, and can be started at any time throughout the year.

There are two levels of Apprenticeship run by KT&A, Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship.  With an Apprenticeship you work towards an NVQ Level 2 and with an Advanced Apprenticeship you work towards NVQ Level 3.  Both levels include key and functional skills and in most cases result in a technical certificate.  Training time can take up to two years.

How do Apprenticeships work?

The employers pay the apprentice a wage and give on-the-job training up to NVQ qualification standards.  Depending on the qualification an apprentice may have to attend one of our centres one day a week to gain skills relevant to the job market such as team working, communication and using new technology.  The apprenticeship salary starts from £80 per week but can be more and apprentices are eligible for annual holiday entitlement dependent on your employers terms of employment.

Invest in your future

Companies that invest in staff training are more than twice as likely to stay in business as companies who do not; research by the Sector Skills Development Agency has shown. A skilled workforce will help you organisation grow and prosper.

Increase your profits

The National Audit Office has estimated that skills gaps cost a typical 50 employee business £165,000 a year. Keeping the skills of your staff up to date will help you maintain and increase your competitive edge.

Inspire and motivate your staff.

Training has been proven to increase retention, morale, motivation and loyalty. Staff who benefit from training feel more empowered and valued but their employer so are therefore more likely to have higher levels of job satisfaction.

Improve your efficiency.

Effective training boosts the bottom line by decreasing wasted time, materials, accidents, staff turnover and insurance premiums
