Welcome to The Howard School
The Howard school is a specialist sports college with ICT as the second strand.
We offer an extraordinarily extensive, academic and vocational range of courses. The school is committed to academic innovation in order to maximise the potential of all our students. There are intermediate and higher courses on offer and all students benefit from dedicated pastoral care and support. There is access to excellent ICT facilities and a dedicated Sixth Form Centre. The school has a long tradition of sixth form provision and the majority of students gain places at higher education. We accept girls into our mixed sixth form.
Success makes us different. We have an excellent record of academic, pastoral and sporting success. We have a wide range of subjects on offer and a dedicated hard working staff to deliver them. We are a Specialist Sports College with ICT as our second strand.
We are a large school which means we have the benefit of having lots of facilities across our various departments.
We have excellent sporting facilities which include our own Table Tennis Centre, Ten floodlit, all weather 5 aside pitches a large sports hall and fitness suite.
We have an ELearning centre, a learning resources area, a mini theatre and a dedicated 6th form block.
At the Howard School we realise that for our students to achieve it is vital we give them all the support, guidance and advice they need. We also believe it is important that the students have a voice in what goes on in the school. This is done through our School Council and team of Form Captains.
Every year group has Form Tutors, Head of Year and a Deputy Head of Year to look after the pastoral needs of students. This is supported by our Student Services Centre, Inclusion department, school counsellor and careers staff.
We celebrate student success at the Howard School through a range of rewards throughout the year and have a grand Finale at the end of the year in the form of our very popular Prize Giving evening.
We are judged to be in the top 5% of schools nationally in Value Added from Key Stage 2 to 4. We are in the top 3% of schools nationally in Value Added from Key Stage 3 to 4: overall. At GCSE we are the highest performing non selective school in Medway and the highest performing all boys non selective in the South East.
