The Latimer Arts College is a thriving, high performing school and I am privileged to be Principal.  Those in our learning community love contributing to our vibrant and exciting college life, supported by our Arts College ethos. Together we share one key aim: to secureoutstanding achievements for each individual by delivering excellence in all that we do.

At The Latimer Arts College we place no boundaries on ambition, no limits on aspirations and no barriers in the way of achievement.  We are very proud of our students and to us, every child really does matter: we work tirelessly to make sure that each of our students feels valued, makes progress and achieves personal success so that they can be the best that they can be!

About us

Our key aim is to support our Sixth Form students to become well-rounded, highly skilled and well-qualified young adults, in an environment where they are encouraged to become increasingly self-reliant and independent.  We pride ourselves on supporting our students in making the right choices as they join the Sixth Form and in preparation for their next steps once they have completed their level 3 qualifications through our 'Passport to Success'.

Our pathway choices in Sixth Form are broad and cover the requirements of the 16-19 Study Programme.  They are enhanced by our collaboration with Southfield School, which enables us to offer a wider range of subject choices to the students at both schools.

We are delighted that you have expressed an interest in The Latimer Arts College Sixth Form and there are many reasons why this is an exciting time to be part of our high-performing and vibrant learning institution. We would love to show and tell you more and invite you to join our Sixth Form Pathways Evening on Wednesday 25 November.

Wide Pathway Choices

We are proud that we are able to deliver a high quality, broad Level 3 curriculum that offers academic A Level routes as well as vocational qualifications. Something for all Level 3 learners! Through working in close partnership with Southfield School, we are able to provide additional flexibility and choice.

Facilities available

Learning is supported through dedicated facilities in our purpose built Sixth Form Centre, with its own ICT suite, study area and common room. Students are able to access additional ICT facilities across the College, including the Learning Resource Centre. Where students wish to use their own devices, wireless access is provided.

Leadership Development

Learning in the Sixth Form is also about becoming the person that you want to be: leadership and enrichment opportunities are exciting, diverse and offer personal challenge! Our Sixth Form students are excellent role models for our younger students, providing support through tutor time activities and contributing to the College and wider community.

Unrivalled Care and Support

Our key aim is to support our Sixth Form students to become well-rounded, highly skilled and well-qualified young adults, in an environment where they are encouraged to become increasingly self-reliant and independent. We pride ourselves on supporting our students in making the right choices on their journey to success. Each student is nurtured and mentored by a form tutor on a regular basis. Consequently, outcomes in the Sixth Form match those in the main College, which see our students making good progress from their respective starting points.

Learner success

At The Latimer Arts College we believe in encouraging students to aspire for the highest possible academic achievement.  We believe in the value of examinations as the ‘passport’ for accessing higher education or training and a wider choice of careers and we are immensely proud that we are delivering on our promise to deliver success to our students year after year.

Success at The Latimer Arts College is more than just about what the performance tables show. In September 2013, there were changes to how a school’s performance would be measured. One of these changes was around which grade would be included on the performance tables for students who had entered an examination in a subject more than once. The government decided that the grade that a student achieved the first time that they entered for an examination would be the one that would count in a school’s performance table.

At The Latimer Arts College, we took the decision not to change our entry policy at this time, regardless of performance tables, as it had been proven to bring success to our students and it would have an impact of students who had already started examination courses.  Following more recent changes to the content and structure of GCSEs we have reviewed this policy once again and our Year 11 (August 2016) are the final cohort of students who will have been entered for an examination more than once.
