Welcome to Red Tape Central
Red Tape Studios has been a professional recording studios and music industry hub since 1986, delivering qualifications run by music industry professionals. Lessons are in small groups and so pupils have much more time with their tutors.
This course is aimed at people who wish to further their education and go on to degree level studies or wish to have a career within the music industry.
Ofsted recently designated Red Tape Studios as a grade one (excellent) in inspection.
Courses we offer include:
- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology
- Level 2 Study Programme in Music Performance or Music Technology
With well over 33 years of experience, Red Tape Central is a well-established name within the music industry with local and international stakeholders. This includes contact with the major/ key independent record companies and associated management companies.
Artists that have used the studio complex and its facilities include; Arctic Monkeys; The Human League; The Spice Girls; S-Club 7; Take That; Pulp; Public Image; Cabaret Voltaire; The Pretenders and Heaven 17.
We have industry professionals visiting Red Tape Central each year; for our students to gain in-depth knowledge in all areas of the music industry and beyond.

80% of BTEC graduates go on to Higher Education. Three have recording contracts. Several are now managing venues or provideing live sound for venues. One learner is working for the BBC. Another was employed by Electtic Ladyland Studios (set up by Jimi Hendrix and Polydor Records in 1968) in New York.
