About us

Belle Vue Girls' School is an 11-18 girls' specialist language, science and maths college located in the Upper Heaton area of Bradford. We serve a wide area but with the majority of our learners coming from the Manningham and Toller areas of the inner city. Our learners come from over 40 primary schools. Our admission number is 180. Our sixth form averages around 180 learners but there is some year on year variation. Currently we have 1078 learners on roll - the highest numbers achieved since schools re-organisation in 2000. Our learners enjoy the BVG experience and we have higher than average staying on rates (around 75%). We encourage our learners to make a positive contribution in school and in the wider community. Listening to the learner voice is very important amd learners are confident that their opinions are sought, valued and acted upon. The school has a good track record of fund raising for a range of charities driven in part by the nature of our specialism and the international dimension of our work. We have become an associate school of the University of Bradford. We have been a specialist language college since 2003. We are proud of our contribution to Primary language developments both in our feeder schools and are currently leading for KS3 within the LA. The school has high expectations and standards - in 2006 the school was the 4th highest performing school in Bradford for Value Added KS2 - 4.

Our second specialism of Science and Maths was awarded in July 2008, and we are currently forging links with local primary schools and with St Joseph's College.  Among a number of targets we are committed to raising profile of physics, science related careers and strengthening the link with health and well-being.  We are also offering triple science at GCSE and planning to send a girl to the moon!  We will continue to offer A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and are developing a range of courses for applied sciences.
