Welcome to Challenge College
Challenge College is a popular secondary school with excellent facilities that opened in September 2000. We gained Specialist Technology College status in 2004 and we are a lead school for the Leading Edge Partnership Programme. There are approximately 930 students with 170 students being in Post 16.
Challenge College has a collaborating Post 16 with Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College, providing the highest quality education, training and learning opportunities for students whatever their ability, individual need or prior attainment. We also currently have a successful partnership with BEST and LBEC Works, training providers who support our level 1 and 2 provision. It is our aim to provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to become lifelong learners in a world that is constantly changing. During time in Post 16 students receive the support and guidance they need to achieve their aims and the skills and experiences necessary to follow career ambitions after Post 16. We have close links with key personnel at several universities and colleges, and together we provide a clear knowledge of what courses are offered, how to apply and what university life is like. Over 80% of students in Post 16 progress to university, with the rest of our students securing places in employment or FE colleges. The courses offered in at Challenge College allow students of all abilities to progress into further educations and the workplace. We offer a wide range of both academic and vocational courses at levels 1, 2 and 3 to suits students’ individual needs. We believe that the enrichment program is an essential part of life at Challenge College. Students have the opportunity to develop other interests, encounter a variety of experiences and a chance for students to gain further qualifications, awards and certificates. These activities include First Aid, Self Defence, Voluntary Work, Sports Coaching, Sports Activities, Trips, Peer Mentoring, Student Council, Drama and Music Activities, Student Mentoring Scheme, Charity Fund Raising and The Young Enterprise Scheme.
