Welcome to Parkside School
Parkside Post 16 is a relatively new sixth form that offers a breadth and depth of courses to meet the needs of Post 16 students in the 21st century. As an expanding provider of quality Post 16 education we are constantly developing new facilities to provide a modern, effective learning environment. Post 16 students now have their own purpose built Common Room and dedicated study area.
In our latest OFSTED Inspection (February 2011) Post 16 was judged “good” for results and for care, support and guidance. Indeed the Chief Inspector stated that “Post 16 is a strength of the school”.
We offer a total of 21 Level 3 A level courses, including subjects that students will not have had chance to study before such as Film Studies, Sociology or Psychology, as well as the more traditional subjects such as Maths, English and History. New this year, Chemistry and Physics are on offer to high-flying Science students, as well as Biology and Human Biology.
We offer 6 Level 3 BTEC/OCR vocational qualifications in Business, ICT, Applied Science, Health & Social Care, Sport and Music.
All students are placed in a Yr 12 tutor group under the guidance of a Post 16 tutor. The Post 16 Tutors form a high calibre team who are well attuned to the needs and expectations of our Post 16 students. The Careers, Education and Guidance programme that they deliver is underpinned by our very high aspirations for every student within the Post 16 community. Tutors have regular half-termly reviews with their tutees in which they discuss current assessment data, progress to date and set targets.
We offer a wide range of extra curricular trips and visits to a variety of institutions including Study Days for A level subjects, trips to theatres and museums and visits to Universities.
We are part of the 3 Valleys Partnership of Post 16 education providers within the Keighley area, which enables students to access courses such as Law which we do not currently offer here.
To sum up, Parkside Post 16 offers a range of opportunities to enable students to become well-rounded, successful and mature young adults.
