About us

This microsite provides information about courses on offer at St. Bede’s Catholic Grammar School and St. Joseph’s Catholic College for those students who wish to continue their education beyond the age of sixteen.Increasingly, more students are deciding to “stay on” and pursue courses at GCE Advanced level, GNVQ or a combination of both. At. St. Bede’s Catholic Grammar School and St. Joseph’s Catholic College the “staying on” rate has always been high and our exam results have been consistently good. We are very proud of this. The Sixth Form in a Catholic School is not simply about ‘subjects’. It is also about being committed to personal development whether through academic, spiritual, sporting or social activities. Students are expected to take a lead as mature individuals in enhancing the reputation of both schools in the Catholic Community and the city of Bradford. The provision of a wide range of courses through the strong association between the two schools does not mean that the individual identity or the distinctive ethos of each school is lost. Students are expected to respect these and to act in accordance with the rules, regulations and requirements of each school. What the Associated Sixth Form offers: *Individual counselling to help to choose the right course. This is more important than ever due to the myriad of choices facing you, the students. *Suitable students will take four A/S levels together with General Studies, leading to five A/S levels at the end of Year 12. In Year 13 some of these students might continue with all five subjects to A2 level, some might choose three A2 subjects and General Studies. *Suitable students will take three A/S level subjects and General Studies, leading to four A/S levels at the end of Year 12. It is expected that all these students will continue with the same subjects in Year 13 leading to four full A levels. *Suitable students will follow level two vocational courses. *All students should be working towards, or have achieved, at least Grade C at GCSE English and Mathematics. *All students, irrespective of their main programme of study, will participate in Religious Education once a week, Careers Education and have the opportunity to benefit from recreational and leisure activities. (Religious Education is compulsory for all students and will be an accredited course), Subject to alteration depending on staff availability and finance.
