Welcome to Morthyng Vocational College


Who are we?

We are Morthyng Vocational College (M.V.C.) based in the town centre, close to Hamilton Square Railway Station and a short walk from the Bus Station. 

What do we do?

We offer the following Study Programmes. Each programme is flexible and allows you to advance your Functional Skills in English, Maths & ICT, Vocational Training and Personal and Social Skills from Entry Levels to Level 2 awarded by City and Guilds and Edexcel/BTEC.

You will also be able to gain valuable work experience in a vocational area that you are interested in to prepare you for an apprenticeship/job/college.

How do we do it?

We place you at the heart of your learning programme with full support. We provide a variety of work-based learning placements with local & national employers. We have opportunities for you to gain valuable work experience on visits to EU member states under the Leonardo da Vinci mobility programme.

 

About us

We offer Vocational qualifications in Construction, Sport and Leisure, ITQ, Business Administration, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Pre unformed Service programmes. All accredited by either City and Guilds, Btec. As well as English, Mathematics, ICT Functional skills and Personal and Social Skills qualification in Work skills, and a broad based programme called Vocational studies, which allows you to choose vocational units to meet your career choice.

You may be entitled to receive a payment towards your training under government bursary payments. Morthyng will top these payments up to £30.00 per week inclusive of travel to support your training requirements if you receive less than £30.00 per week.

Additional support

MVC has a high level of pastoral care.   

Each learner has open access to a dedicated mentor team who are able to provide Information, Advice & Guidance and support at any time.

In addition to the Mentor team  Each centre has an appointed 'Equality & Diversity Ambassador` where any concerns that a young person may have regarding Equality & Diversity can be discussed formally, or informally, but always in the strictest confidence. Safeguarding is a high priority a recent Ofsted inspection graded Morthyng as Grade 1 in Safeguarding with and overall Grade 2 as a provider.
