Welcome to Farmor's School
At Farmor's School we make a commitment to every student. We provide quality teaching and learning, set high expectations and offer broad opportunities so that every student is encouraged to acquire the skills and values to become a successful person in society.
Our highly qualified and energetic staff are committed to the academic achievement and emotional well-being of all our students, a commitment which was recognised by Ofsted in 2013. The inspection report stated that, “teachers have strong subject understanding and are always ready and willing to help students should they run into difficulties”.
Aims of the school
To nurture each individual's aspirations and talent
To provide outstanding learning experiences and opportunities
To promote respect for one another and the environment
To encourage collaboration and partnership
We do this by:
· Providing a safe and stimulating learning environment.
· Providing a flexible curriculum to meet the needs of all our students.
· Expecting the highest standards of behaviour and performance.
· Offering a wide range of extra curricular activities.
· Valuing our links with the community for the benefit of our all students.
· Celebrating success.
Farmor’s Sixth Form aims to provide an outstanding learning experience and to prepare students for the future demands of Higher Education, further training and the Workplace. Although our high level of academic success is a key feature, the Sixth Form works equally hard to help you develop your skills, character and level of independence. Parents comment on how “happy” their sons and daughters are here and leave “as confident, well-adjusted individuals” who “will always have fond memories of [their] time here”.
We take care to create an environment which has rigorous expectations and to provide students with everything necessary to be successful, yet at the same time retaining a sense of perspective and good humour. Parents “value the support and inspiration” given to students by subject teacher and pastoral staff.
The Sixth Form Learning Resource Centre provides dedicated sixth form study space for our students as well as improved ICT facilities, and a careers and university resource hub on the mezzanine of the new building.
In addition, all the social spaces of our sixth form accommodation has been revamped and redecorated so we have outstanding facilities to match our outstanding results. Facilities are light and bright with places for collaborative study and places for quiet independent study as well. There is a café and a common room as well which provide space to relax. 93% of students rate the facilities as good or excellent.
In addition to academic study, Farmor's Sixth Form offers a wide programme of enrichment activities that include Italian, Young Enterprise, Amnesty International, Creative Writing, Public Speaking and Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
Our sixth form results are outstanding, with 64% of A-Level grades achieved at A*-B. The vast majority of students gain their first choice university or work/apprenticeship place and in 2013, 59% of our students went to Russell Group universities.
