Welcome to Sawtry Village Academy

Sawtry Village Academy has a friendly and welcoming sixth form and we pride ourselves on strong student support and tutoring.

Our students tell us that they appreciate the level of independence we offer, and value the continuous support offered by teachers, tutors and colleagues.

We look forward to welcoming students from the Sawtry catchment areas and from further afield to our sixth form.

The Ofsted report from June 2014 stated:

“The leadership of the sixth form is good. The good achievement identified at the last inspection has continued. The number of students in the sixth form is rising and more students are applying to join the sixth form from outside the academy. The curriculum in the sixth form has a number of options and students receive good advice as to the right courses for them. As a result, the numbers that successfully finish their courses is very high. Personal support from the sixth form administrator is highly valued by the students. The leader of the sixth form is responsible for the risk assessment of trips and off-site visits for the whole academy and this work is thorough and very well organised”.

Come and pay us a visit, we know you’ll like what you see.

About us

Sawtry Village Academy is an 11-18 Specialist Technology Academy. It is also a DFES designated Leading Edge and Training School. The college roll is currently approximately 1400 with a sixth form of 170.

We are located approximately half way between Huntingdon and Peterborough (both of which are accessible by local transport) in a village setting close to the A1(M) trunk road.

The academy achieves very good examination results with approximately 70% of students achieving 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE in Year 11 and a good performance record in the sixth form leading to a high proportion of A level students achieving admission to their chosen universities.

A strong feature of the college is it's excellent ICT facilities. The college is one of only six Microsoft Partner schools in England and the extensive ICT facilities are used to enhance learning and teaching across the curriculum for all age groups.

The sixth form offers a good range of subjects at A and AS level anda small number of vocational alternatives. There is a full enrichment programme and guided study support programme for all students.
