Our teachers are passionate about their subjects and our curriculum is constantly being reviewed to ensure it meets the needs of our students. Our teaching rooms are of the highest standards and the dedicated Sixth Form facilities are excellent.
Our Ofsted inspection in November 2014 recognised us as a 'good school'. highlights of the report included the inspectors' recognition that the extent to which pupils feel safe and the effectiveness of care, guidance and support were 'outstanding'. The inspectors also reported that "The Sixth Form is good. Students achieve well, especially in vocational subjects, and are well prepared for the next stage in their education and adult life".
We have a dedicated Sixth Form team who will work with you to you meet your full potential. You are encouraged to be responsible for your own learning and you will be encouraged to take risks and make your own decisions. The vast majority of Sixth Form students continue their studies at university. A high number of students achieve their first choice of university and we have an impressive record of sending students to the Russell Group Universities; including a significant number of Oxbridge entries.
We believe that the advice and guidance you will receive from our staff will enable you to make informed decisions. It is essential that you choose subjects that interest, motivate and inspire you, along with matching your long term career aspirations. With our carefully selected curriculum we aim to ensure each student can access their particular selection of subject choices by offering a range of traditional and vocational subjects.

We aim for high academic standards and encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning whilst benefiting from close monitoring and constructive advice from subject teachers. Our priority is teaching and learning. Lessons are regularly quality monitored in order to achieve consistently high standards in all curriculum areas. We listen to our “student voice” and by listening we aim to introduce positive changes that help support students in their learning. A strong partnership between teachers and students exists, contributing to the conclusion of the 2014 Ofsted Inspection.
OFSTED report that “care, guidance and support” is a strength of the sixth form. The sixth form committee and ball committee allow for a genuine sense of democracy giving students a role in decision making.
We have excellent facilities. Students benefit from being based in the new “Laurie Richards Community Centre” which provides them with a study area equipped with high quality computers, social areas and kitchen and catering facilities.
We also have a caring ethos and aim to support all our students as individuals, helping them through any personal difficulties they may face, encouraging them to achieve success at the highest possible level and guiding them in their choice of career or university course. We aim to have a strong partnership between home and school so that together we can support students to reach their full potential.
