Welcome to St Peter's School, Huntingdon

It is our strong belief that as educators we can and must make a difference to the lives of the young people in our care. We work to ensure that the School enables its pupils to maximise their potential whatever their ability, background, culture, belief or disability.

We have high expectations and aspirations for all our students and we work to prepare them fully for the future beyond our school, recognising, nurturing and celebrating individual skills and talents. We provide a happy, caring, stable and orderly environment in which the highest quality of teaching, learning and development can take place. We have a responsibility to develop confident, competent citizens of the 21st century in a totally inclusive environment.

We develop skills to enable young people to make choices about their future. We maintain a working partnership of co-operation between students, parents, staff, Governors and the wider community. At St Peter's both teaching and non-teaching staff work as a team to ensure that pupils are the priority and we aim to make every experience one of quality and wherever possible exciting and challenging.

There is a dedicated silent study room that students can book and we also have a seminar room that can be booked out to groups of students. Within the Sixth Form Centre there is also a social area where you can meet with friends and we have recently refurnished the recreational room.

We have a well stocked library which contains a quiet study area for Sixth Form use only. This area also contains computers dedicated to Sixth Form use.

Additional support

Care, guidance and support at St Peter’s School was judged by OfSTED as being outstanding, and the Sixth Form is no different! We are able to offer every Sixth Form student a personal tutor who will mentor and guide you through your AS and A2 courses. You will be regularly involved in the monitoring process and your progress will be checked against targets that you have agreed with subject staff.    The PDLS programme has been written by the Sixth Form Team with input from the student body. The programme aims to enhance and support your study skills, lifestyle choices and, more importantly, university and job applications.   Teachers, tutors and your parents will all work in partnership to support both your academic and personal development.

Learner success

Recent years have seen a steady increase in our A* - C and A*-E success at A level and we are extremely proud of all of our students! 81% A*-C in 2012 was our record and we strive to beat this in 2013! We are constantly reviewing our Sixth Form curriculum in line with National developments to ensure that we can meet the needs of a wide range of learners. All of our students leave St Peter's Sixth Form with a progression pathway; the majority of our students in 2012 went to University and have been successful acquiring their first choice.
