Welcome to Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy
We welcome students into our Sixth Form who are committed to their studies and want to achieve. Our personalised, yet traditional curriculum ensures that students are challenged and engaged. We have high expectations of our students and as a result, achievement is high.
We provide additional opportunities and guidance for our Sixth Form students ranging from work experience placements and residential experiences for our Year 12 students to providing support in completing UCAS applications. We have strengthened our links with industry and businesses, in particular Rolls Royce, KPMG, PWC and Jaguar Land Rover, and this has enhanced the opportunities available for students wishing to gain employment or who wish to access higher level opportunities.
In addition to this, we are the only secondary school in the Black Country to hold FA Centre status. Students who attend the Football Academy will combine guided learning hours in the Football Academy alongside their Sixth Form subjects. There is also the opportunity for students to stay on in Year 14 to follow our Apprenticeship Programme or to take advantage of the links we have with football coaching camps in the USA or our links with the University of Worcester to access higher education.
We have much to offer here at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy and I hope that you take advantage of these choices to stay with us for the next two years of your education. Our mission is simple: we aim to raise achievement, remove barriers to learning and most importantly open doors for our young people to allow them to have the life choices and chances they deserve. This is an exciting time for you. Students at our Sixth Form are confident, respectful, responsible and successful and make us proud on a daily basis – we look forward to you joining us.
Our Sixth Form centre has been designed to help students develop the research and independence skills needed for their studies as well as being a crucial skill to acquire for life beyond school. The centre has a dedicated study area and sixth form teaching rooms which can also be used for personalised learning opportunities. The academy has excellent ICT facilities which incorporates state-of-the-art technology to complement learning and teaching.
