Telford College of Arts and Technology was established originally over 100 years ago and has a national reputation for providing excellent service with quality education and training. It has over 16,000 students - 1200 full-time, 15,000 part-time. Attracts many overseas students. Widest range of vocational courses in the area. The portfolio of courses includes NVQs, professional, preparatory degree and tailor-made programmes. Successfully prepares students over 16 for employment and higher education. About us

We have a good idea about the kind of things you want and are thinking about because we spend time talking with many Year 10s and Year 11s from our local schools.

Your biggest concern seems to be making friends with your classmates, but you should remember that they are in the same position - they're new too!
You will spend time getting to know each other during your first week and this will be an essential start to your life as a student at Telford College.
You will have tutor groups and a number of different classes but most of all, you will be working with many new people in a friendly and interactive environment. A Personal Tutor will also be on hand to help you settle into life  at Telford College.

At Telford College you can join in one of the many sporting clubs on offer catering for all abilities through to Sports Academy Level.

All sports have strong links with local clubs with an example being that the football squad plays under the banner of AFC Telford in the Midland Floodlight Youth League and more recently in the FA Youth Cup.

Sessions run throughout the year to improve sport and fitness opportunities for female students at the College.

Hairdressing, Beauty and Holistic Salons
Look after yourself whilst you are with us, the College has fully equipped hair, beauty and holistic therapy salons which are open to the public, staff and students.
The salons are training environments and students provide the treatments under strict supervision,
There is an extensive range of treatments available including hair care, hand and nail care, facial care, body care, massage and holistic treatments.
The salons are open during the day and evenings during term time, offering a wide range of treatments at discounted rates. Go on - treat yourself!
HealthTec is designed to give learners the opportunity to experience what life is like working in the Health and Social Care sector. You are able to work as a nurse, forensic scientist, paramedic or doctor.

New course books, stationary and files are available from the College shop - it's the perfect place from which to collect your everyday supplies including newspapers.
The Shop also stocks a wide variety of artists materials including paints, paper and card.
Whatever your course of study, you will need to use College computers. Computing facilities are available throughout the campus. The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is a very well resourced study and library area which has the following resources available: books, statistical information, magazine articles, newspapers, internet, videos, DVD's and audio tapes.

Additional support

Coming to College will have a considerable effect on your life and you may have lots of questions you want to ask before you start your course. Even when you have settled into your studies, you might find that issues arise and you would like to talk these through with someone who can give you advice and guidance on the best way to deal with them.

During your first few weeks at College you will become aware of your entitlement as a learner, this includes:

To ensure the safety of the site you will be issued with a campus pass. You must wear your badge at all times – it must be clearly visible. You will notice that staff also wear campus passes.
You will have a named member of the teaching staff as a Personal Tutor. Your tutor will provide you with information and help throughout your course – the tutor link will be vital to you as you continue your studies.
The College holds several parents evenings each year: it is our chance to talk to you and your parents where appropriate about your choices for the future.
The College has a very strong Equality and Diversity policy. We have a zero tolerance stance against bullying and harassment in respect of learning difficulty, sexual orientation, racism, sexism, disability, gender and cyber bullying are not tolerated and are classed as gross misconduct. You need to make yourself aware of our statement included in this pack. We are training you for employment in a diverse world and as a college we will expect you to abide by our policies.
Every college or employer has a disciplinary code. There are a lot of students at any one time on site – anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. We expect you to help us keep the site safe for everyone and therefore the College promotes positive behaviour. The Disciplinary Code is incorporated in the College’s Citizenship Code.
Your tutor will ask our Student Enrichment Team, to talk to your group. This talk and DVD will give you an idea of the sort of things we expect from you and what you can expect from us.
As a full-time student you will receive a minimum of 1.5 hours tutorial per week. This may be taken up with Citizenship, health, enrichment activities or one-to-one chats with your tutor, action planning sessions, visits or speakers. Your Personal Tutor will tell you more about tutorial.
