About us

Henley College Coventry has been appointed a Centre of Vocational Excellence by the Learning and Skills Council for the delivery of courses in computing and e-skills technologies. The College is seen as a "flagship" for computing and e-skills technologies. Henley is one of only nine colleges throughout the UK to gain the much sought after status for computing and IT related training. This status represents a massive boost for everyone - the College, local people, schools, universities and local employers.

Facilities available

The library

Henley College Coventry students and staff are members of the library and your student ID card is also your library card. Visit the library to find all the information you need for your assignments and much more besides. The resources available include:

  • 25,000 books selected to support every course taughtin the College and many other subjects; fiction books, with collectionsfor children and learners of English;
  • Over 100 journals and 5 different daily newspapers;
  • Careers information;
  • CD-ROMs: there are 30 titles which can be used on the multimedia PCs in the library;
  • Ordnance Survey Map collection (Britain and Europe);
  • Audio books, Language courses on tape.

The study areas

You can choose between the Group Study Area, where you can discuss your work with other students, or the Quiet Zone for silent work and viewing videos or listening to cassettes.

The e-library

The e-library is an exciting service available to students on the Internet, via WebCT or the Xfiles. It gives you access to lots of information and can be accessed from home or in College.

Video library

The library records dozens of useful programmes a week, as well as buying programmes to help you with your course. Students can watch these in the Quiet Zone, or look out for our programmes in the classroom.

IT project area

Henley College Coventry`s IT project area is testimony to the impact technology has had on the way we learn. Pentium power at your fingertips, the Internet on all machines and a wide range of software packages that gives you the confidence you need to continually produce the finest project work. The area offers students laser printing capability as well as printing and scanning. All the machines are networked and provide access to industry standard applications such as Microsoft Office Professional as well as AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Multimedia Astound, Pagemaker, Paint Shop Pro and a number of programming languages.

Media and multi-media suite

Students who join the Media Department can look forward to getting their hands on some excellent equipment. The college`s status as an educational partner to one of the world`s leading suppliers of digital media equipment, JVC Professional Products, enables the college to offer students the very latest in production equipment. For example, the college has a fully-equipped TV studio with a state-of-the-art editing suite. There are facilities for vision mixing, digital VTR, video editing and photography using a fully equipped darkroom or digitalcameras. There are also a modern sound mixing and editing desk and this operates in conjunction with Cubase/Cubasis, Sound Forge and WaveLabsoftware.

There is a range of eating places around the college each offering a different selection of dishes, snacks and drinks for students.

The role of Student Services is to support students to succeed. We want to make it easy for you to access that support. Below are some of the services you can expect at the college:

Careers Advice and Guidance

We have a separate careers and information library that provides information on all aspects of work and education. We also give support and guidance in looking for work, applying for jobs, preparing for interviews, course choices and applying for University.

Counselling Service

Counselling gives someone a chance to talk through any problems, to tryto understand and work things out in a supportive environment.Counselling within the college is confidential and sessions can be bookedor students can use the‘drop-in’ clinic.

Financial Support

Students aged16 – 19 on full-time courses can apply for an Educational MaintenanceAllowance. Students may be able to claim up to £30 a week.


For students whoare bringing up children there is a nursery on the campus.Henley Nursery is staffed by a friendly, approachable team and interested parents can view the facilities by making an appointment.
