Welcome to Lyng Hall a trust school and specialist sports college

The decision to join Lyng Hall Sixth form means an opportunity to be part of a fast growing and rapidly improving centre with an increasing number of opportunities for its students. These opportunities, taken to the full, will give our students a firm aca-demic foundation along with the satisfaction of personal progress and achievements.

We offer our students an extensive range of choices in the sixth form and pride our-selves on our flexibility and our commitment to ensuring all students receive a per-sonal education plan. We not only offer a large range of subjects and qualifications but are also able to offer these at different levels for those students who may require longer to complete them. In addition to this our federating partnership with other schools in the city means that if we are not able to offer you a subject at Lyng Hall we can arrange for you to study this at another school.

Lyng Hall sixth form also offers an extensive range of enrichment opportunities such as Duke of Edinburgh, Student College and Careers Academy. We also have strong links with Coventry and Warwick University; both of these institutions have provided extra support to students and offer schemes to encourage local students to go to uni-versity. In addition to this we provide a comprehensive package to support students when they leave 6th form, offering advice & guidance regarding employment, further education and apprenticeships.

We hope to give you the best possible experience of sixth form and hope that you will find it an enjoyable and stimulating experience. We expect you to make a com-mitment to the courses that you have chosen to study and in return we will guaran-tee you the support you require to achieve your full potential.

Please feel free to contact us with any further questions that you may have.

Miss S Faulconbridge

Head of Post 16

Additional support

The sixth form at Lyng Hall is student focussed with tailored support being put in place to enable students to achieve their full potential. We believe that there should be no barriers to success and have a dedicated team to ensure that each sixth former feels valued and supported during their time here.

The curriculum is developed and personalised every year to ensure that we are offering our students the very best pathway in further education. We have a package that begins early in year eleven to give stu-dents the best guidance with their post sixteen choices. For many of these students, further study at Lyng Hall is the best option and additional time is then spent with them to ensure they are matched to the courses that best enable them to be successful. We are proud to be able to offer different routes in post sixteen along with different levels of qualification. Our approach is very flexible and ensures the needs of the students is a priority.

We have had a very dedicated team supporting UCAS applications which has resulted in an increasing num-ber of students making applications to university. We also work very closely with our on site careers ad-visors to ensure that students not making university applications also have a positive destination.

We also have a dedicated team who work alongside teachers and pupils to ensure that students with special educational needs have the correct support at an appropriate level to enable them to be success-ful.

Through precise tracking of the data we are able to put intervention packages in place if we feel that a student is not achieving as highly as they could be. We are able to offer in class support, workshops and intensive periods of study for students needing more focussed intervention.

Lyng Hall sixth form also benefits from the support of a pastoral team who ensure that any issues which may affect a students chances of success are overcome and dealt with. We also work with external agen-cies to ensure sixth form are supported with non academic issues such as their health and wellbeing. We take a holistic approach to education and are dedicated to ensuring support is provided for our students with both academic and pastoral issues.
