Welcome to Myton School
Myton School is a large and exciting organisation where children of all abilities, aptitudes and social backgrounds thrive and achieve. Our community is based upon high expectations of learning and behaviour which is underpinned by our pastoral systems, ensuring all students are individually known and supported.
We know that our students’ potential is virtually limitless and that they can all surpass every expectation if they are confident and ambitious learners, are supported and nurtured by great teaching, and there is a strong partnership between home and school.
Andy Perry, Head Teacher
At Myton Sixth Form we aim to create a purposeful, friendly and adult environment in which you are encouraged to develop a sense of independence and take responsibility for your study. The two years you spend in the Sixth Form are important in shaping your future career and education. We hope you will also remember that time as an exciting and enjoyable experience.
Myton gives you the chance to continue developing the study skills, personal qualities and time management that are needed later in life. We provide opportunities for extra curricular and community activities and give you every encouragement to be leaders in the school.
Above all, the Sixth Form is about helping you realise your potential whatever it is. We want you to be successful and happy, whether this is gaining a place at the university of your choice, getting on in your chosen career, or developing your wider potential.
Facilities for students are many and varied, including a large independent learning room where students can study in silence and a group learning room which incorporates our hugely popular ‘Learning L@tte’ café, offering opportunities for socialising and group learning. Our outstanding Learning Resource Centre is also available to Sixth Formers throughout the school day.
We provide a strong pastoral system where students are supported by a dedicated team of tutors who remain with them for the two years of the Sixth Form. They encourage, guide and help them through what can be a difficult time for many students with the level of work required, concerns about their future, changing relationships etc. The Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Head of Sixth Form also provide much support to students on an individual basis and are always available to students or parents for advice. There is also a dedicated school counsellor available to sixth form students as needed.
We offer students excellent teaching from a team of highly qualified teachers and tutors with a track record of success. Successive Ofsted inspections have noted the ‘outstanding’ teaching in the Sixth Form as a significant strength of our school.
Historically, our examination results have been consistently outstanding, with most students going on to their first choice of university, including regular entrants to Oxford, Cambridge and medical school. In addition, each year, students gain entry into the professions and high quality apprenticeships in national companies. Our results – 2016-17
