I encourage you to come and talk to us to find out more about why people choose Lakes College.
We also have a wide variety of guidance services for both students and for employers.
After frequently receiving feedback from our students, they tell us that Lakes College is a very friendly and supportive place to study, that they would highly recommend their courses and our way of learning to the people that they know, thoroughly appreciating the support that is available to them throughout the time that they spend here.
In some schools, colleges or even universities you’re a small cog in a big machine. ‘Identical’ to every other student. Treated the same way. At Lakes, it couldn’t be more different. That’s because we know that individuals deserve to be treated as such. And we always, always understand that we’re here to make your life better — not the other way around.
Lakes College is not just a place to learn, it is also a centre for the community. We have an excellent training restaurant that is open to the public, a training hair and beauty salon that can offer luxury treatments and a recently refurbished gym.
We keep a close eye on the local market and make sure that all our meals, treatments and memberships are offered at affordable prices. We also offer competitively priced meeting rooms and a 340 seat theatre. To find out about what each facility offers and any prices, please click the links to the left. We have also invested significantly in our teaching facilities.
We have our £7 million construction skills centre, which has up to date equipment and spaces for all of the trades, including welding, we also have a newly constructed ACS Gas Safety Centre.
In 2014 we spent well over £1 million refurbishing our engineering wing. STEM is a priority for us over the coming years and we feel now we have the space that employers would expect to have their employees trained in.
We have a partnership with Copeland Council and deliver horticultural qualifications at Distington Walled Garden. The centre trains our students and sells the fruit, vegetables and plants they cultivate.
