Welcome to Highfield School
Highfield School is an area community Special School situated on the edge of the City of Ely in Cambridgeshire, in close proximity to Ely College. We take children from a wide area around Ely. Places are offered to both boys and girls from 2 - 19 years. All pupils have a Statement of Educational Needs or a Education Health Care Plan, which means each pupil has significant and complex learning difficulties.
We strive to provide a supportive, safe, nurturing and rich learning environment that ensures the best possible progress for all our learners.
The school has accommodation that includes specialist teaching rooms, along with;
- a large hall/gymnasium
- Science and Technology room
- Art room
- Music room
- Multi-sensory light and sound room
- Soft play room with ball pool
- Food Technology room
- Visiting Therapist have their own suite with two therapy rooms
We also have three mini buses which enables students to access wider educational places such as Cambridge Regional College, along with swimming, riding and other work related learning opportunities.
We now also have a brand new 6th Form wing, opening November 2015. This includes 3 new large classroom with execeptional facilities for our PMLD students, an impressive new food technology room which has access for all and ICT suite. It also contains a seperate life skills flat for student to learn those all important skills to set them up for the furture.
Highfield 6th Form offers students a range of curriculum options, which include Entry Level qualifications. Students also have the opportunity to study off site at places which include Cambridge Regional College, Anglesey Abbey and Ely College.
Students attend 5 full days a week for a provision that is tailored for their individual needs.
