If you are interested in ‘A’ Levels and want to progress to do a Degree course, Selby College has an enviable reputation for learners gaining places at top universities including Cambridge and Oxford. In 2016, ‘A’ Level students achieved a massive 99% overall pass rate (100% in 22 out of 25 subjects).
For learners wanting work-related Vocational Courses, Selby College has extensive links with employers across Yorkshire and the Humber. In 2016, Level 3 Vocational learners achieved 98% pass rate.
For young people wanting Apprenticeships, Selby College offers these in many different subject areas.

Selby College officially became Yorkshire's first Ofsted Graded "Outstanding College" in October 2007, one of only 11 colleges in the country to achieve five outstanding grades across every area at that time!
In February 2008 Selby College also became the top-performing General Further Education College in England, with our learners consistently achieving higher grades than other colleges across the country. This trend has continued in the years since with Selby College achieving an overall 'A' Level pass rate of 99% in the summer 2016 exams, and 98% pass rate in Level 3 Vocational subjects.

At Selby College we want to ensure that you have the opportunity to achieve your true potential, so we’ve developed a specialist team of staff to support you and help you take responsibility for your own learning.
Guidance and Support Tutors (GSTs)
You will be allocated a GST who will oversee your progress and attendance at college. This is the first person you should turn to if you have a problem.
Tutor groups meet weekly and cover a range of topics surrounding career planning, job and university applications and personal development. You will also meet individually with your GST to discuss your progress.
Fully qualified, highly-skilled staff that are able to offer free impartial advice on everything from career options and financial assistance to transport.
Please note: There are no tuition fees for anyone enrolling on a Full-Time Course between the ages of 16 and 18. Students aged 19+ who begin a Full-Time Course in 2017/18 will be required to pay course fees, details of which can be obtained from Student Services.
Selby College is committed to ensuring that all students, including those with disabilities and learning difficulties, are treated fairly so that they are able to make the most of their time at college.
Our Skills Team (a specialist group of advisors) will work with your Lecturers and GSTs to help you develop the skills you need to successfully complete all parts of your college programme.
The majority of our classrooms are accessible and we also have designated disabled car parking spaces, ramp access and toilets with access for wheelchairs.
We realise that sometimes you might want to talk to someone independently and the college Counsellor gives you the opportunity to talk openly about your concerns safe in the knowledge that what you say will remain private.
Education is more than just studying; it’s also about making new friends, the place and the social life. That's why we go to great lengths to combine quality learning and success with a variety of amazing enrichment activities.
Trips in the UK
We organise a variety of trips including Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, The Clothes Show Live, the theatre and many more.
Each year there are a number of trips abroad; these have included visits to Barcelona, Munich, Krakow, Berlin, Torremolinos and Disneyland Paris.
Music, Dance and Drama
If you play an instrument, sing, dance or act, we have our own Recording and Drama Studios.
There is an active Students’ Union which meets regularly to discuss college issues and represents the student body on a number of committees.
Sporting Academies and Clubs
We have a Football Development Centre, for both male and female students.
Please note: Membership of either Academy is subject to release from your studies. If you are applying for ‘A’ Levels please check with Student Services beforehand.
We also offer a range of intercollege leagues including Badminton, Hockey, Football, Basketball, Cricket and Volleyball, as well as Rugby coaching.

Schools’ Liaison Team Visits
A team of specialist Selby College staff will visit local schools to give a presentation on Selby College and hand out information.
You and your parents/guardians will be invited to attend our Open Events on:
Saturday 15 October 2016, 9.30am - 12.00 noon
Monday 17 October 2016, 5.30pm - 8.00pm
It is best to complete your application form by the end of February at the latest.*
You will be invited to an interview, either at school or at the college, where you will talk about your choice of course and find out if you will be offered a place.

Course Introduction/Taster Event
You will be invited to attend the college to sample a choice of lessons and meet staff and other students who you will be studying with.

On the day your GCSE results are published we offer an advice service. If you need help or advice about your situation it is advisable to make an appointment with Student Services Tel 01757 211040 before dropping into college.
Before starting your course you’ll need to sign up to confirm that you want to take up your place at Selby College. The process should take no longer than two and a half hours, but remember to bring your GCSE results slips with you.
You’ll start a day earlier than the current students to give you time to get to know the staff, make new friends and find your way around the campus. There will also be a Freshers’ Fayre, providing loads of information and fun activities to get involved in.
