About us

Miltoncross School is a community school which opened in 1999 under the Private Finance Initiative. It serves 1000 11-16 year-old male and female students. Miltoncross is in its fifth year as an operational specialist language school, offering a range of out-reach language education opportunities to students and adults from other schools and the wider community. As well as offering a broad range of GCSE courses, the school works in partnership with a range of partner schools, colleges and training agencies to deliver vocational courses to Miltoncross students during KS4. Miltoncross works actively within the South-East Portsmouth Community Improvement Partnership of schools and other agencies which has fulfilled the core Extended Schools’ offer by offering and signposting provision to parents in the local area. Miltoncross School is the designated disability access school for the south of Portsmouth. The school is proud of its inclusive ethos and worked in partnership with Portsmouth City Council to enhance the facilities for students with disabilities in 2007/08 with the development of a designated physical treatment room. The school operates an integrated learning class in Year 7 to provide a more integrated curriculum delivery for students with poor levels of prior attainment. In 2007 Miltoncross gained the International Schools’ Award in recognition of the strong cross-curricular international dimension of its curriculum provision.
