All students need to know that support is available for them. Whether the issue is subject related about a complex scientific equation, an English text or creating a Business Plan; organisational, such as managing your time to meet all your subject deadlines;emotional, social, or health related you can be assured that we offer a wealth of appropriate support. In particular,
Subject Staff - Our Sixth Form subject teachers work hard to ensure that students are fully supported in the classroom as well as enabling them to work independently on projects, research, group based learning and individual set tasks. As part of our classroom practice across the College we aim to make sure that students fully understand and can apply the ingredients for success.
Pastoral Tutors and Inclusion Support Staff - Every students is allocated a personal tutor who meets with them on a regular basis for mentoring support. We have members of staff who are based in the Learning Resource Centre; specifically to work alongside students and support them in an independent learning environment. Trained staff are able to support students with specific learning needs.
Careers Advice - We provide an excellent Careers programme, delivered by trained staff and we work closely with our colleagues from the Leicester universities who run events to help you make important career decisions. We have a wealth of resources to help make career decisions: books, videos, CD ROMS, magazines, ICT links.
Parents/Carers - We recognise that parents/carers play an important part in supporting students throughout their time in our Sixth Form. Parents are invited to an introductory meeting early in the Autumn Term. Regular contact is then kept through Consultation Evenings, Reports and other special events. Parents/Carers may, of course, also make an appointment to talk to staff at any time.
Our goal for every student who attends this Sixth Form is to work with them in a positive, focused, secure yet enjoyable environment to ensure they reach their full potential. There is evidence for this from both National progress data and student university data.
Over the past three years we have been placed in the top 5% of Sixth Forms nationally for the progress we have made with our students.
We want you to be part of this success.
