Welcome to Bishop Luffa School
Every year several students also join us from other schools and colleges. You are most welcome; I am confident of your success with us too. You are facing a crucial stage in your education. What are you looking for in the Sixth Form? For most students our Sixth Form gives the best chance of gaining the qualifications and personal qualities that they need to gain a place at university, college or job.
Our students achieve very high academic success, develop into impressive young people and greatly enjoy Sixth Form life. Ours is an academic Sixth Form. Our teachers know you and are committed to your progress. We offer a wide range of A level courses which the last Ofsted Inspection describes as “outstanding standards”. Your future success depends not just on the best possible qualifications, but also on your developing the skills of leadership, teamwork, initiative and responsibility.
We offer excellent extra-curricular opportunities and vocational experiences: plays, choirs, orchestras and sport; public speaking; the Charity Week and the Fashion Show. We place a special emphasis on taking part in community work through OUTSET, the County Youth Action organisation. You can also repay in service to the school something of what you have received so far by mentoring pupils and taking on duties around the school.
Past students have described their experience at Bishop Luffa Sixth Form as invaluable and memorable. It is one you should not miss except for clear and strong reasons. What our students say about Bishop Luffa Sixth Form, from past surveys: “I chose to come to Bishop Luffa because of all the opportunities that if offers as the next step in life. It might be a long journey from Worthing but it is worth every minute. The courses are brilliant and the information I received about them in Year 11 really helped me to make the right choices. The transition into sixth form has been helped greatly by my teachers and their willingness to encourage me. I enjoy the subjects that I am doing, and all my teachers are helpful and approachable. I have found the transition to Sixth Form studies to be smooth and easy. Although a lot more is required of you and I have found it to be challenging at times, I have pulled through and worked things out well which I feel has made me a stronger and more confident person. I love Sixth Form at LUFFA mainly because all the people are so lovely and the courses are good too – hard work but worth it. I have made good choices for A level and I was given good advice on what to expect for my courses. My teachers are supporting me well and I always get the required help. We are encouraged to study independently and this has been a valuable experience, I now feel that I am ready for University. It has been a challenge, but I have enjoyed it!” The staff at Bishop Luffa provide you with support that is personal to you, this combined with the enthusiasm and friendliness of all the students make it a great place to study.”
I look forward to seeing you in September.
