Welcome to Accrington & Rossendale College, a whole world of possibilities for your future. This is an important and exciting time for you, as you set off on the next stage of your learning journey and lay the foundations for your future career.

As a student at AccRoss we expect you to aim high and be the best you possibly can be. We believe that your time at college should be much more than just the course of study you choose. As well as gaining valuable qualifications, you will get an education that is firmly focussed on getting you the job you want. This may be through progression to Higher Education or directly into the employment market. We are dedicated to providing you with the best teachers and tutors, who all have impressive track records in their own industries, and who will work with you to ensure you achieve your goals.

We expect you to work hard and achieve great things with us during your time at AccRoss, but we also believe that this is a time to enjoy yourself, have new experiences and make friends, as a member of our vibrant college community.

About us

A Further and Higher Education College providing programmes for students 14 - 16 in partnership with local partner schools, further education for 16 - 19 year olds and continuing and higher education for students who are aged 19+.

Facilities available

The main campus is split between four buildings, the Coppice Centre, Broad Oak Centre, the Hamilton Centre and the new Heartwood Centre.

The Broad Oak Centre comprises of the Higher Education Centre, Library+, Info+ Centre, Careers Advice and Guidance Team, Shop and classrooms.

The Coppice Centre houses the Hair and Beauty, Performing Arts and Media Departments, the main refectory and Student Hub, this includes:

  • Three Hair Salons
  • Three Beauty Salons
  • Dance Studio
  • 160 seat Coppice Theatre
  • TV Studio
  • Radio Studio
  • Recording Studio
  • Desk Top Publishing Suite
  • Classrooms

The multi-million pound Hameldon Centre, which houses our award-winning Construction Trades and Building Services Departments and also our Motor Vehicle Engineering workshop, includes state-of-the-art workshops and top of the range tools and equipment. Our Motorcycle Engineering facility with our modern workshop consisting of specialist tools and equipment allowing learners to work on a range of motorcycles and scooters from different manufacturers.

In addition to these we have a multi-purpose 3G football pitch, sports pavilion and the brand new Sports Fitness Centre. The Sports Fitness Centre houses a fitness suite with up-to-date equipment, Sports Science Lab and a four court sports hall capable of hosting a wide range of sporting activities.

The new state-of-the-art Heartwood Centre, which houses the College’s Hospitality and Catering Department, alongside its brand new Roots restaurant and bespoke conferencing facilities provides students with professional industry standard equipment. The centre also boasts a main production kitchen, training kitchens, a bakery and patisserie as well as a shop.

Additional support

All students are entitled to free and impartial careers advice from the College’s Information, Advice & Guidance Service. We are passionate about supporting you to achieve your aspirations and helping you to reach your goals, dreams and ambitions in study, a new career, progression to other courses or to University, promotion at work or personal and professional development.

We can help with:

  • Finding learning, training and progression opportunities that are right for you and your personal circumstances
  • Support your learning, liaise with tutors and support networks
  • Develop your CV and Job searching skills
  • Help you to understand employability skills and the Labour Market
  • Help you to deal with any problems or barriers you may face during your time at college
  • Advise and signpost you to other professional organisations that can help you.
