Mrs Moffat, Headteacher

About us

We offer a wide range of A level subjects, taught by teachers who are experts in their field, as well as the opportunity to develop your independent research skills by enrolling for the Extended Project Qualification. In addition, we are working in partnership with Calderdale College to offer vocational courses alongside A Levels for students who are interested in pursuing a combined programme of study.

We are proud of our sixth form students. You will be encouraged to develop your leadership skills by supporting students in lower years through House activities and peer mentoring. Enrichment opportunities, ranging from volunteering in a local primary school to taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, will further enable you to develop your skills and confidence as well as providing enjoyment during your sixth form years.

Facilities available

This year we celebrate the opening of our new 6th form study centre, providing additional modern teaching space and study areas solely for use by our 6th  form students. This facility will support independent learning and give students their first taste of university-type study facilities.

Additional support

In order to support you in your achievements, you will be provided with an excellent level of personalised guidance from your tutor and our pastoral care and guidance team. As you settle into sixth form life you are encouraged to take greater responsibility for your own learning. You are given study time that we expect you to use productively and we encourage you to engage in discussions with staff about how your learning is progressing.

Learner success

We have a proven track record of outstanding examination success. In 2015 our pass rate of students gaining A*-E grades was 98.8% with 70% of those obtaining A*-B. An impressive 14% of our grades were A*.
