About us

Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School is located on the edge of green belt land, within the communities of Hipperholme and Lightcliffe, being just over 3 miles east of Halifax and 2 miles north west of Brighouse. The school is a mixed comprehensive school with the number of students on roll currently standing at almost 1500, of whom 260 are in the Sixth Form. During the summer of 2006, the school was awarded High Performing Specialist Status by the DfES, following an excellent set of examination results. We have been successful in gaining redesignation as a Specialist Sports College with a second specialism in Maths and ICT along with a second subsidiary specialism of Science. The school has its own post 16 provision, approximately 60% of our students remain in school to continue their learning beyond age 16. We offer an ever increasing range of advanced and intermediate level courses for post-16 students. The school’s sixth form has grown significantly in recent years with increasing numbers of students continuing their education in our school. If you would like more information please contact the school on 01422 201028 or visit our website www.hlhs.co.uk.
