Welcome to Heysham High School Sports College

Our Sixth Form has a crucial part to play in the life of the school and the community. We not only help individuals gain the academic results they want to achieve but, importantly, we also help them develop into fully rounded, compassionate young adults, ready to move on in the world. We employ a specialist, independent careers consultant who is on hand to advise and support students who need guidance.

We are very proud of the students in our care; every day we are lucky enough to work with students at an important and exciting time in their lives, and whether it be teaching, watching their performance or chatting in the corridor, helping them with their university applications or talking through their approach to learning, no day is the same.

We look forward very much to the prospect of working with you for what we are sure will be two thoroughly enjoyable years.

Facilities available

There has never been a better time to be a part of Heysham High School Sixth form. Our extensive programme of refurbishment of the Sixth Form Block is now complete and we have arguably the most varied and flexible choice of subjects in the area, including our unique Elite Football and Elite Dance programmes and qualifications in hair and beauty taught in our state of the art, purpose built salons.

We have recently completed such extensive refurbishment of the Sixth Form Block, outside and inside, that it looks and feels like new. The building stands in its own grassed area, with a dedicated reception, canteen and dining area with facilities for making snacks and drinks, an area in which to relax and mingle, and a bank of computers to work on, all in a light, spacious communal area.

As well as having their own dedicated block, our Sixth Formers also have access to our two excellent dining areas, well stocked library, brand new IT facilities, sports massage area and purpose built hair and beauty salons.

Learner success

100% of students returned a pass rate at A level in the summer of 2015 with 97% gaining at least two A levels and once again almost half of our students gaining at least one A*-B grade or equivalent. Those going off to university secured an average equivalent to three A level B grades and have now left to study at Leeds, Liverpool and Newcastle and more locally at Uclan, Cumbria and Lancaster.
