Derwentside College provides high quality ecucation and training that focuses on developing the knowledge, skills and qualities needed by our learners to progress into sustained employment and build successful careers.

Facilities available

Chapters Restaurant

All of our menus are prepared and cooked-to-order and served by our aspiring chefs, waiters and waitresses at a fraction of the cost of professional restaurants, but with the food cooked to the same high standard. Chapters Restaurant is set in a realistic working environment for our hospitality and catering students. The restaurant is student-led, whilst being supported by qualified and experienced teaching staff.

Catering Facilities

The College’s main catering facility 'Food for Thought' is on the ground floor of the main building at the Consett Site. The College provides a wide range of high quality food and drink options to students.

The College offers the following key services:GRAB & GO; BAKED POTATOES & SANDWICHES; HOT FOOD; SALAD BAR

Hairworks

The College operates its own Hair Salon 'Hairworks' which is open and available to members of the public.  A wide variety of hair treatments, including cutting, colouring, perming and styling are available, so why not treat yourself to one of our specialist services to look your best for that all-important occasion.  Trainee stylists are up-to-date with the current and emerging trends in the hair industry and can help you gain the look that you desire.

Eden

The College operates its own beauty salon that is open and available to members of the public.

 

 

Additional support

Derwentside College strives to meet the needs of all learners to ensure an inclusive learning experience. As part of this commitment we offer a range of support for learners with learning difficulties and disabilities. This includes:

  • A support interview to determine needs and support requirements
  • An individual support profile outlining strategies that will help you achieve
  • Special examination arrangements where necessary, including additional time
  • Assistance throughout the use of a range of specialist equipment/technologies
  • Adaption of teaching materials
