Sixth Form

The progression into sixth form is a life stage which is both daunting and exciting in equal measures, and the choices you make now will impact not only your future career prospects but also your future happiness as a well rounded and engaged member of society. We recognise that all our young adult students are individuals and they deserve the best individual education and support that meets their aspirations and unique needs.

You’ll see from this prospectus that we recognise you have a choice of which pathway you wish to pursue, whether that be a scholastic A’ Level route to university, or the equally valued Tech X Post 16 vocational route to apprenticeships and the world of work. We offer you that choice of Sixth Form or Post 16 all with the outstanding facilities, support and experienced professional teaching that the Academy has to offer.

The vibrant, challenging and well resourced sixth form community at Bosworth Academy can offer each student a tailored pathway to achieve success and to ‘be better than they thought they could be’. Our student body consistently achieve higher than the national expectations for progression and go onto study at some of the UK’s leading universities, or into employment with some of the country’s leading businesses.

Post 16 Tech X

This next step on your educational journey should be exciting as it is challenging. You’re an individual, and as such you need to make choices that meets your individual needs and that suits your learning style. Do not underestimate the importance of the choices you make now, as they will impact not only your future career prospects but also your future happiness as a well rounded and engaged member of society.

We recognise that all our young adult students are individuals and you deserve the best individual education and support that meets your aspirations and unique needs. Our Tech X students will be prepared for the rich and varied world of work, and prepared for life!

You’ll see from this prospectus that we recognise you have a choice of which pathway you wish to pursue, whether that be the Tech X Post 16 vocational route to apprenticeships and the world of work, or a scholastic A Level route to university, both are of equally value.

About us

Bosworth Academy is a successful and forward looking co-educational comprehensive school with over 1,200 students aged 11-19 in full time education. Each year around 300 new students join us from our feeder schools with over 50% staying on after GCSEs in our thriving Post 16 Sixth Form. In addition, we continue to develop and expand our out of hours learning, sport and leisure programmes.

Bosworth Academy was a highly successful Specialist Sports College between 2003 and 2010. Bosworth Academy enjoys a good reputation for the quality of teaching and learning in a caring, friendly and exciting environment. Experienced, well-qualified staff and excellent facilities help us to provide a stimulating and fulfilling educational experience for everyone. We expect high standards of our students and provide opportunities and challenges to enable students to gain the best possible exam results, improve employability, and to develop into well rounded individuals.

We continue to develop meaningful and robust relationships with both the UK’s leading universities and major employers, proving outstanding pathway opportunities for our students to progress into further education, apprenticeships or the exciting world of work.

Additional support

Important Admission Information:

All students intending to take AS Levels at Bosworth Academy will be expected to have 5 GCSEs at A*-C including English Language and Maths at grade 5 in different subjects. Students who have completed the One Year BTEC Course must have achieved a Merit or Distinction. In addition, some departments require particular grades as detailed on the individual subject information sheets

Students achieving grade 4 in English Language and Maths as well as at least 3 other GCSE A*-C grades in different subjects will be able to access some Level 3 subjects.

All students intending to take BTEC First Diploma will be expected to have 3 GCSEs at Grade D in different subject areas.

Please note that in line with all Sixth Form providers some courses may not run, if the numbers do not allow it.

If you choose the Sixth Form route, choose at least 4 A/AS Level courses.

If you choose the Tech X route, please choose 5 subjects from BTEC Level 2 courses.

When choosing courses for Sixth Form or Post 16 Tech X education at the Academy, please ensure that they are in order of preference.

In order to secure offers on your chosen courses it is strongly recommended that you apply by the end of January 2017.
