BMet is one of the biggest colleges in the country, with award-winning facilities and expert teaching staff at our campuses across Birmingham and the Black Country. 

 

 

 

About us

At BMet we pride ourselves on offering unrivalled opportunities to our learners and with over 100 years’ experience of teaching and learning, we are confident that we can help you to achieve your goals.

We offer a wide range of A Levels and vocational courses. These range from pre-entry up to Level 5 including A Levels, BTECs, NVQs, HND/Foundation Degrees and Honours Degree programmes.You can study on a full-time or part-time basis, or combine learning with earning through one of our many Apprenticeship Schemes.

We have a number of campuses across Birmingham and the Black Country: Matthew Boulton College (Birmingham City Centre), Sutton Coldfield College, James Watt College (Great Barr), the Erdington Skills Centre, the Academy at Kidderminster and the Centre of Sporting Excellence, Stourbridge College, the Advanced Technology Centre and the Art and Design Centre, both in Brierley Hill. We have a range of horticulture and floristry courses in the beautiful settings of Birmingham Botanical Gardens. We are also the proud sponsors of Harborne Academy.

Whilst we offer learning opportunities to thousands of learners, we never lose sight of you as an individual. We are passionate about learning - and hope that you will be too. At the same time, we also want to help you achieve your wider ambitions - be that to go to university, start up on your own business, or enter your chosen career.

We work with hundreds of employers - many of whom are household names like BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, IBM, Samsung, John Lewis, Caterpillar, the NHS... the list goes on! This means than we can develop the skills that employers need - putting you in a great position for when you eventually leave us and enter your chosen career.

    • Our city centre campus boasts a spectacular, award-winning learning environment that capitalises on its connections to the City, bringing real life opportunities to our learners on both A-level and vocational courses. Collaborations with industry are visible in out Health, Dental and Pharmacy laboratories, our out-patient podiatry clinic and design based studios FEED, incorporating Photography, Graphic Design, and fasion (based at Millennium Point). We house a state of the art digital technologies suite - including a Samsung Digital Services Academy - essential for training the engineers of today and tomorrow.

    • Sutton Coldfield Campus provides a green and leafy environment for learners to study. The campus includes a state of the art library and learning resource centre, a performing arts theatre, an industry standard design studio as well as laboratory and sports facilities. There are ample parking spaces on site and great transportation links - both bus and train - just 15 minutes from Birmingham City Centre.

    • The James Watt campus has been stunningly refurbished to become the hub for high-technology Engineering and Utilities courses. This year we will launch our new Sustainability Centre, where learners can undertake qualifications in green and environmental technologies. There is also the Baxi Group Innovation Academy and the Samsung Digital Applicance Acacedmy, where learners gain first-hand experience of industry requirements.
       
      The campus also includes outstanding facilities for mulitmedia and games development and hair and beauty, along with new facilities for excercise and fitness and public services.

    • The Erdington Skills Centre provides state-of-the-art premises for vocational training courses. The modern, well equipped centre offers opportunities for learners from the local community to develop their work skills to improve their prospects in the employment market, whether it be finding employment or improving career prospects.     • The Stourbridge Campus, Hagley Road, has recently benefited from £1 million investment in a new refectory, iZone area and Fitness Suite.       The Art & Design Centre is on the doorstep of the Merry Hill Centre and Brierley Hill Town Centre so is convenient for bus links and shops as well as great markets.
       
      The fantastic new £12 million building is home to state of the art studios, workshops and facilities including an iMac Suite, an Art Shop selling a range of materials, sketch books, paint brushes, card and paper and gallery exhibition space on two floors.

    • The Academy at Kidderminster is a skills and entrepreneurial centre, set in the heart of the town with easy transport links around the Midlands. It was created from an industrial building nicknamed the Piano Building because of its shape and has recently won an award for innovative conversion. It’s not like any other college you’ve been in, bare brick, glass walls and large scale installations all go together to make it a truly inspirational space.

    • The Centre of Sporting Excellence (CoSE) is based on the outskirts of Kidderminster at Brinton’s Field. This is our specialist facility for sports courses in Kidderminster and the Black Country.

      The facilities include six football pitches, two rugby pitches, a ‘trophy’ pitch, a golf driving range and a strength and conditioning gym spread over 40 acres of land.

      We also have use of partner community sports facilities including local golf, boxing and rugby clubs and the playing fields are also used by Kidderminster Harriers Football Academy.

      The Centre of Sporting Excellence offers a range of Sports Academies which are designed to bridge the gap between community sports and education.

      The unique partnerships mean that students study for sport related academic courses as well as developing their sporting skills with professional, qualified and experienced coaches across all academies with the opportunity to take part in local, regional and national competitions.
